Key Facts
Brand and Model: European American Armory AKKAR Pump
Caliber: 12 Gauge
Action Type: Pump-action

How the AKKAR Pump Works
Pump-action shotguns cycle manually. You work the forearm backward to extract the spent shell and cock the action, then forward to chamber a fresh round. This gives you control over each feeding cycle and allows you to run low-brass target loads and high-brass hunting loads interchangeably without adjustment.
The AKKAR uses a standard dual-action-bar design. This keeps the bolt aligned during cycling and improves durability under repeated use. Dual bars also help distribute recoil stress across the receiver.
Who the AKKAR Pump Suits
This shotgun fits shooters who want a manual-action 12 gauge without complex features. It works well for home defense, casual clay shooting, and basic hunting applications. New shooters often prefer pump shotguns because the manual operation forces deliberate shot timing and reinforces safe handling habits.

What to Know Before Buying a Pump Shotgun
Pump shotguns require practice to cycle smoothly under stress. Short-stroking—failing to work the action fully to the rear—can cause a failure to eject or feed. Range time builds the muscle memory needed for reliable operation.
Ammunition choice matters. Birdshot suits clays and small game. Buckshot is the defensive standard. Slugs extend effective range for hunting. All three types run in the same gun, which makes pump shotguns versatile across roles.
Check your local regulations on magazine capacity and barrel length if you plan to use this shotgun for hunting. Texas law allows pump shotguns for most game, but some states impose restrictions. Our shotguns category includes models designed for specific uses if you need more specialized features.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the magazine capacity of the EAA AKKAR Pump 12 Gauge?
A: Send us a message to confirm the magazine tube capacity and total shell count for this model. Capacity can vary by configuration, and we can verify the exact specification before you buy.
Q: Can I use steel shot in the AKKAR pump shotgun?
A: Most modern pump shotguns handle steel shot without issue, but barrel and choke compatibility should be confirmed for this specific model.
Q: How does the EAA AKKAR compare to other budget pump shotguns?
A: The AKKAR competes with entry-level pump guns from established brands by offering manual-action reliability at an accessible price point. All pump shotguns share the same basic operating principle, so fit, finish, and build quality become the differentiators. Handle the gun in person or send us a message to discuss how it compares to alternatives in our inventory.
Q: Is the AKKAR pump good for home defense?
A: Pump-action shotguns are effective for home defense because they accept a wide range of defensive loads and the manual action provides positive control over chambering. The distinct sound of a pump cycling can also serve as a deterrent. Practice is essential to cycle the action reliably under stress.
