FFL Transfers: $40 Plus $10 NICS
Bought a firearm online or from a private party in another state? Have it shipped to us. Our transfer fee is $40 per firearm plus $10 for the NICS background check, and that is the whole bill — no processing fee, no paperwork fee, no surprise at pickup. Have the seller send a copy of our FFL along with the gun, and bring your Texas ID.
Full breakdown of what shops around DFW charge and where people get burned: What an FFL transfer really costs in Texas.
Suppressors, SBRs and NFA Transfers — Class III SOT
We hold a Class III SOT, so suppressors, short-barreled rifles and other NFA items are transferred in-house. You do not need to find a second dealer, and you do not need to guess your way through the forms — we do the eForm submission with you at the counter, including fingerprints and photos.
One thing worth knowing: effective January 1, 2026, the $200 federal transfer tax on suppressors and short-barreled rifles is $0 under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The ATF registration and approval process still applies, but the tax stamp itself no longer costs anything. If a suppressor has been sitting on your someday list, the math just changed.

Appointments
Our counter hours are short because it is a small shop and the owner is the one behind the counter. If those hours do not work for you, call 817-393-4000 or email [email protected] and we will set up a time. Local pickups and NFA paperwork are routinely done by appointment.
Order Online, Pick Up in Roanoke
Anything on this site can be bought online and picked up at the counter. For firearms that is the normal process anyway: you complete the ATF Form 4473 and the background check in person when you come get it. For ammunition, optics and accessories, ordering ahead just means it is bagged and waiting for you.
Who We Serve
Western Sport sits right where Tarrant and Denton counties meet, so most of our walk-in customers come from Roanoke, Haslet, Justin, Northlake, Trophy Club, Westlake, Keller, Southlake, Fort Worth (Alliance and the north side), Denton, Argyle, Flower Mound, Grapevine, Justin and Rhome. If you are coming down I-35W from Denton or up from downtown Fort Worth, we are an easy trip either direction.
Common Questions
Where exactly is Western Sport?
4000 Haslet Roanoke Road, Suite 111, Roanoke, TX 76262 — just west of I-35W in the Roanoke and Haslet corridor north of Fort Worth. Phone: 817-393-4000.
Do I need a permit or a license to buy a gun in Texas?
No. Texas does not require a purchase permit, a waiting period or firearm registration. You need to be legally eligible, be at least 18 for a rifle or shotgun and 21 for a handgun from a dealer, show valid ID, and pass the NICS background check at the counter. We walk you through the whole thing. More detail: How to buy a gun in Texas.
Can I buy a suppressor in Texas?
Yes. Suppressors are legal for Texas residents to own, and as an SOT dealer we handle the ATF transfer here in the shop. Since January 1, 2026 the federal transfer tax is $0.
How long does an NFA transfer take?
Approval times move around, so we will not quote you a number we cannot keep. What we can tell you is that a clean eForm submission with good prints and photos is the single biggest thing under your control, and that is what we do with you at the counter.
Do you do gunsmithing?
Yes — we are a gunsmith shop as well as a dealer, and we build and stock Rankin Industries suppressed uppers and complete rifles alongside the major brands.
What is the best first gun for a new Texas shooter?
It depends on what you want it to do, and we would rather talk it through with you than sell you the wrong thing. Here is our take: Choosing your first gun in Texas. If carrying is the goal, also read up on the Texas License to Carry.
Come By
We are a small shop and we like it that way — you get the owner, not a rotating counter crew. Bring your questions, handle the guns, and figure out what actually fits you. Call 817-393-4000 or send us a message.
