Buying a firearm from Western Sport

Every firearm purchase at Western Sport goes through a standard 4473 background check process. It is the same paperwork regardless of where you buy. We can walk you through what to expect if you have never done it before.

We handle in-state transfers and FFL transfers for guns purchased online. If you found a firearm online and need a local FFL to accept the transfer, we handle those. Call ahead to confirm we have received the transfer before making the drive.

Layaway is available on select purchases. Price matching is our standard policy — if you find the same firearm at a competitor for less, bring us the quote. We also carry a wide selection of optics, magazines, and accessories so you can get everything you need in one trip.

Western Sport is a licensed FFL and SOT/Class III dealer in Roanoke, TX, right in the north Dallas–Fort Worth corridor, with thousands of firearms in stock — handguns, rifles, shotguns, and NFA items. We’ve been at it since 2007, and the shop is run by a Type 07 gunsmith, so you’re buying from people who actually build and work on guns, not a warehouse with a checkout button.

What we carry

Pistols from carry guns to competition rigs, rifles spanning AR-15s, AR-10s, bolt guns and rimfires, and shotguns for defense, hunting, and clays. Because we’re SOT/Class III, we also stock and transfer suppressors and short-barreled rifles, and we handle the NFA paperwork in-house.

Buying a firearm

Start with what the gun is actually for — carry, home defense, hunting, competition, or plinking. That one decision points you to a platform and caliber faster than any spec sheet. After that it’s fit and budget: a gun you shoot well beats a “better” gun you don’t. If you’re local, come handle a few; if you’re ordering a transfer, we make it painless. Not sure what you need?
