Picking the right size

Measure the gun from muzzle to the end of the stock with any muzzle device, suppressor or optic attached, and choose a case a few inches longer. Scoped rifles need a case with room for the optic, and a double case carries two long guns to the range in one trip. For air travel or long-term storage, step up to a hard gun case.

Can I fly with a soft gun case?

Not on its own. TSA requires checked firearms to travel unloaded in a locked hard-sided container, so use a hard case for air travel.

Should I store guns in a soft case?

Soft cases are built for transport. Padding can hold moisture, so for long-term storage take the gun out and keep it in a safe or another dry, ventilated spot.
