Stripped or Complete?
A stripped lower is a bare receiver — no trigger, no safety, no buffer tube. It’s the cheapest way in and it lets you pick every component yourself. A complete lower ships with the fire control group, grip and stock already installed, so you only need to drop an upper on it to have a working rifle. Uppers work the same way: a stripped upper is the bare housing, while a complete AR upper arrives with the barrel, gas system and handguard assembled and usually only needs a bolt carrier group and charging handle.
What Requires an FFL Transfer?
Lower receivers — stripped or complete — are serialized and legally count as firearms, so they must ship to a licensed FFL dealer for pickup, not to your door. Upper receivers, parts kits, barrels and charging handles are not serialized and ship straight to you.
