Shooting Training Books and DVDs at Western Sport

We carry training materials from respected instructors and authors in the firearms training community. Good fundamentals come from repetition and instruction — these resources let you work on mental models and technique understanding away from the range.

Range time is the irreplaceable component of firearms skill development. Books and training videos are the way to understand the why behind what you are doing at the range — which makes the time you spend there more productive. We stock materials we have read and watched ourselves.

If you are looking for a specific title or instructor’s material, call us at (817) 393-4000 and we will try to source it for you.

Training resources for serious shooters

Dry fire practice with training materials is the highest ROI skill development activity for most shooters. The concepts in good training books — trigger control, sight alignment, draw stroke, reload procedures — can all be rehearsed without ammunition. Twenty minutes of quality dry fire before a range session beats an hour of unfocused live fire every time.

We recommend starting with fundamentals-focused material before moving into advanced technique. Understanding why a concept works makes it easier to apply correctly under pressure. If you are new to firearms training, ask us what we recommend — we have opinions on what works and what is marketing fluff.
