Buying a firearm from Western Sport

Every firearm purchase at Western Sport goes through a standard 4473 background check process. It is the same paperwork regardless of where you buy. We can walk you through what to expect if you have never done it before.

Buying a gun online from Western Sport is simple. Place your order on the site and we ship the firearm to the licensed FFL dealer you choose near you. You fill out the 4473 there, pass the background check, and take it home. Most local dealers charge a small transfer fee.

Pay by credit card or cashier’s check, or finance your purchase through Credova at checkout. We price match authorized dealers on identical items that are in stock and ready to ship. Add optics, magazines and accessories to the same order while you are here.

  • NFA items: we hold the SOT. Since October 9, 2026, suppressors, SBRs, SBSs and AOWs need no Form 4, tax stamp or fingerprints: they transfer on a standard Form 4473.

How does buying a gun online from Western Sport work?

You order on the site, pick a licensed FFL dealer near you at checkout, and we ship the firearm to that dealer. You fill out the Form 4473 and take the background check there, pay the dealer’s transfer fee, and take the gun home. Accessories and ammunition ship straight to your door.

Can you ship a firearm to my state?

We ship to licensed FFL dealers. State laws differ on magazine capacity, certain features and specific models, so if you live in a restricted state, message us with the model before you order and we will confirm it can go to your dealer.

Do I need a tax stamp for a suppressor or SBR?

Not since October 9, 2026. Suppressors, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns and AOWs now transfer on a standard Form 4473 with no Form 4, no tax stamp and no fingerprints. As a Class III SOT dealer we handle these items the same way as any other firearm.

Are the firearms new or used?

Listings are new from the manufacturer or distributor unless the listing says otherwise. Open-box items are marked and grouped in the open box sale category.

What if a model I want is not listed?
