No Form 4 needed — October 9, 2026
ATF no longer requires a Form 4, tax stamp, fingerprints, photos or registration for suppressors. They now transfer on a standard Form 4473 with a background check, like any other gun. What changed →
Pick a caliber or a brand below to see every suppressor we have in stock. Western Sport has been an SOT / Class III dealer in Roanoke, Texas since 2007, and as of October 9, 2026 a suppressor transfers on a standard Form 4473 — no Form 4, no tax stamp, no ATF wait. How to Pick the Right Can
Buy one caliber up. A .30 cal suppressor will run on .308, .300 Blackout, 5.56 and most everything smaller, so one can covers a whole safe. A dedicated 5.56 can is lighter and quieter on that one host, but that’s all it does.
Mount type matters more than you’d think. Direct thread is simplest and cheapest. Quick-detach lets you move one suppressor across several rifles in seconds, at the cost of a muzzle device on each host. Either way, the first thing to confirm is what thread your barrel actually wears — we keep a sourced muzzle thread pitch database covering 234 factory configurations, because the charts most people find are undated and wrong often enough to cost you a can.
Weight and length are the real trade-off. Titanium runs lighter and heats faster; stainless and Inconel are heavier and take more abuse. Longer usually means quieter. Decide whether this can lives on a hunting rifle you carry all day or a range rifle that never leaves the bench.
Check the rating. If you plan to run it hard, full-auto rated matters. Flow-through designs cut back pressure and gas blowback noticeably on an AR.
Buying a Suppressor: The Short Version
Pick it, fill out a Form 4473, pass the background check, and take it home. Since October 9, 2026 there is no Form 4, tax stamp, fingerprints or ATF wait. Outside Texas, we ship it to an SOT dealer in your state, and your state’s law still decides what you can own. The full walkthrough is on how buying a suppressor works, or send us a message.
