Daniel Defense DD5 V4 in 7.62 NATO with an 18″ barrel, supplied without a magazine for capacity-restricted jurisdictions. FFL transfer required; call to confirm the full build.
The Daniel Defense DD5 V4 Rifle, part number 02-158-13210-067, is a semi-automatic 7.62 NATO rifle with an 18″ barrel on the Daniel Defense DD5 platform, supplied without a magazine.
Daniel Defense gives this build its own part number because magazine capacity is restricted in a number of states and localities: the rifle is supplied with no magazine and a compliant one is added where it is delivered. If capacity is not restricted where you are, order the standard DD5 V4 18″ configuration instead. DD5 barrels are cold hammer forged from Daniel Defense proprietary steel, and the platform uses the 4-Bolt Connection System that attaches the handguard to the receiver without a barrel nut.

Capacity rules and magazine choice
Magazine capacity is regulated by your state and sometimes your city or county, and those rules are revised, so confirm the current position for your own jurisdiction before ordering. Nothing here is legal advice.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why does this DD5 V4 come without a magazine?
A: Because magazine capacity is restricted in a number of states and localities.
Q: Is the rifle any different from the standard DD5 V4?
A: No. It is the same 18″ 7.62 NATO rifle built to the same specification on the DD5 platform. The only difference between the two part numbers is that no magazine is supplied with this one, which is why the standard listing suits most buyers.
Q: What magazine does it take?
You will also need to confirm what capacity your own jurisdiction currently allows, as those rules vary and change.
Q: How does the V4 differ from the V3 and V5?
A: Barrel length is the headline difference across the DD5 line. This V4 is the 18″ build, the V3 is offered at 16″ and the V5 at 20″. Longer barrels favour velocity and steadiness; shorter ones handle better.
Q: What is the 4-Bolt Connection System?
A: It is how Daniel Defense secures the handguard to the receiver across the DD5 platform, without a barrel nut, increasing the surface area of that connection for greater rigidity and stability. It is a structural feature of the platform rather than an option on this SKU.
Q: Does it need to go through an FFL?
A: Yes. Every rifle, including this one, must be transferred through a licensed FFL. Western Sport is a licensed FFL/SOT dealer, so you can complete the transfer with us or we can ship to your dealer.
