The Case Medium Stockman 00786 is a traditional slipjoint folder with a 2.57″ clip point blade. It carries three blades in one handle: a clip point, a sheepsfoot and a pen blade. The sheepsfoot measures 1.88″. Each blade has a plain edge, and each opens with a nail nick.
The handle is red bone in the Pocket Worn Old Red Bone style. The blades are stainless steel with a mirror polished finish and a thickness of 0.095″. Blade hardness is 55-57. The knife is made in the USA.
Size and carry
Closed, the knife measures 3.63″. Open, the overall length is 6.2″. It weighs 2.5 oz, so it rides in a pocket without pulling at the seam. The slipjoint design has no lock. Spring tension holds each blade open, so you handle it with the same care you would give any traditional folder.
This knife suits people who like the classic stockman layout. The clip point handles general cutting and piercing. The sheepsfoot gives you a flat, controlled edge for trimming and opening packages. The small pen blade is for finer work.
Gear that pairs well with it includes a leather valet tray, a pocket organizer, a small flashlight and a sharpening stone for keeping the edges tuned. It also makes a sensible companion to a field jacket or work pants with a deep pocket.
