The Auto Ordnance 1911 Founding Fathers is a single-action .45 ACP pistol with a 5″ barrel and a 7+1 round capacity. It follows the classic 1911 layout, with an external hammer, a manual safety and a single stack magazine. One magazine is included.
What sets it apart
This model is built around its theme. The frame is stainless steel, and the slide is finished in red, white and blue. The custom engraved aluminum grips carry the Declaration of Independence and Washington Leading Troops artwork. Up front, the frontstrap is checkered for a firmer hold. The trigger is skeletonized, and the TruGlo white 3-dot sights give you a simple sight picture.
At 36.8 oz and 8.6″ overall, it has the full-size 1911 feel. The 5″ barrel gives a longer sight radius than a compact model. That suits slow, deliberate range shooting as well as display.
It fits a collector who wants a 1911 with a story, and a shooter who likes the single-action trigger and the manual safety. Pair it with .45 ACP ammunition and extra single stack 1911 magazines. A holster made for a 5″ 1911 is a good next step. A padded case or a display stand protects the finish, and eye and ear protection and a basic cleaning kit round out a range bag.
