The Sig Sauer P229 Elite is a compact 9mm Luger pistol with a 3.9″ barrel and 15+1-round capacity. It is a double-action pistol with an external hammer, and it has an aluminum alloy frame under a hard coat anodized black slide finish.
Two features set this one apart. The first is the Siglite night sight setup, with a Siglite sight at both the front and the rear. The second is the E2 grip, which gives the compact frame a defined shape in the hand. The P229 Elite also comes with 2 double-stack magazines, so you have a spare ready from the start.
Who it suits
At 29.8 oz with a 7.1″ overall length, this pistol is sized for shooters who want a compact 9mm that still holds a full magazine. The external hammer and double-action trigger appeal to people who like a traditional hammer-fired design. It fits range practice, home defense and concealed carry.
Plan on a few accessories. A holster made for the P229 frame is the first one to get. Extra 9mm magazines, a supply of 9mm Luger practice ammunition and defensive ammunition are also worth having. Add eye and ear protection, a range bag and a basic cleaning kit, and you are set for the first session.
