Product Description

Update, October 9, 2026: ATF no longer requires a Form 4, tax stamp, fingerprints or registration for suppressors, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns or AOWs. They now transfer on a standard Form 4473 with a background check. Anything below that mentions a Form 4, a wait or a tax stamp was written before this change. What changed

The Angstadt Vanquish SBR is an integrally suppressed 9mm short-barreled rifle built on the AR platform and chambered in 9mm. This is a semi-auto NFA firearm that integrates the suppressor into the barrel assembly rather than threading it on afterward.

Integral suppression means the can is built into the gun, not attached as an accessory. The result is a compact package that runs subsonic or standard-pressure 9mm with reduced sound and muzzle flash right out of the gate.

The Vanquish uses familiar AR-15 controls and manual of arms, so if you’ve run a carbine you already know how this operates. It’s designed for shooters who want the handling of an SBR with permanent suppression and no extra length from a threaded mount.

Key Facts

  • Brand: Angstadt Arms
  • Model: Vanquish SBR
  • Action Type: AR Platform, Semi-Auto
  • NFA Categories: Short-Barreled Rifle and Suppressor—requires two tax stamps
  • SKU: AAVAN09R01

What Integrally Suppressed Means for the Vanquish 9mm

An integrally suppressed firearm builds the suppressor directly into the barrel. That’s different from threading a can onto the muzzle. With the Vanquish integrally suppressed 9mm SBR, the suppressor is part of the rifle and cannot be removed.

This design keeps overall length manageable. Traditional setups add six to eight inches of suppressor past the muzzle. Integral designs fold that length back into the barrel envelope. You also avoid the need to buy a separate suppressor, pick a mounting system, or worry about alignment.

Because the Vanquish is classified as both an SBR and a suppressor, it requires approval on ATF Form 4 for both categories. An approved ATF Form 4 is required before you take possession; see our NFA wait times guide for current approval times.

AR Platform Controls on a 9mm SBR

The AR platform brings a known manual of arms to the 9mm carbine role. Magazine release, safety selector, charging handle, and bolt catch all follow standard AR-15 patterns. Shooters already trained on the platform can transition to the Vanquish without learning new muscle memory.

The semi-auto action cycles on blowback or delayed blowback, depending on the specific internal design Angstadt uses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What makes the Angstadt Vanquish different from other integrally suppressed 9mm firearms?

A: The Vanquish is built on the AR platform, so it uses familiar controls and ergonomics instead of a proprietary system. That means standard AR grips, stocks, and triggers work with the lower receiver, and shooters trained on ARs already know how to operate it safely.

Q: Does the Vanquish integrally suppressed 9mm SBR require one tax stamp or two?

A: It requires two. The Vanquish is registered as both a short-barreled rifle and a suppressor, so you’ll complete two ATF Form 4 approvals. Western Sport handles the paperwork as part of the transfer process when you order through us.

Q: Can I use subsonic 9mm ammunition in the Vanquish?

A: Yes, integrally suppressed 9mm firearms like the Vanquish are designed to cycle both subsonic and standard-pressure loads. Subsonic ammunition keeps velocity below the speed of sound, which maximizes the suppression effect by eliminating the supersonic crack.

Q: Who should consider the Vanquish 9mm over a standard AR-15 carbine?

A: Shooters who want the lightest recoil and lowest noise in a carbine-length package for close-range work benefit most. The 9mm chambering also means cheaper practice ammunition and simpler suppression compared to supersonic rifle rounds. If you’re running defensive drills indoors or in low-light conditions, the Vanquish delivers both hearing safety and soft recoil.

Q: How do I transfer an NFA firearm like the Vanquish in Texas?

A: You’ll complete ATF Form 4 paperwork with Western Sport, submit fingerprints and a passport photo, and wait for ATF approval.

Q: Can the integral suppressor on the Vanquish be serviced or cleaned?

A: Many integral suppressors are user-serviceable, but the specific design of the Vanquish suppressor should be confirmed before you attempt disassembly.

Buying a suppressor now: a Form 4473 and a background check. No Form 4.

Since October 9, 2026, ATF no longer requires a Form 4, tax stamp, fingerprints, photos or registration to buy a suppressor. It transfers like any other firearm: you fill out a Form 4473, pass a NICS background check, and it is yours. No months-long wait.

  • Texas buyers: suppressors are legal under Texas law. Western Sport has been an SOT / Class III dealer since 2007.
  • Outside Texas: we ship to an SOT dealer in your state, who completes the 4473 with you. Your state’s law still decides — some states ban suppressors, and some only allow ones registered with ATF.
  • Want it registered anyway? ATF still accepts a voluntary Form 4. Ask us.
