Why 6.5 PRC Over 6.5 Creedmoor?
The 6.5 PRC launches heavier bullets faster and flatter. Where a Creedmoor tops out around 147 grains, the PRC runs 153–160 grain match-grade ammo comfortably. The result is superior wind resistance and more energy at extended ranges — especially valuable in western hunting where 400+ yard shots are common. Ammo is widely available and priced competitively with Creedmoor. The trade-off is slightly more recoil, but the Cima’s 5.8 lb weight is manageable with proper technique.
Can I Use a Detachable Magazine Instead of the Hinged Floor Plate?
Yes. The Cima ships with M5 bottom metal that accepts the traditional hinged floor plate. Bergara (and many aftermarket makers) produce AICS-pattern detachable magazines that drop right in — no gunsmith work required. Many shooters run the floor plate for field hunting and keep a detachable mag in their pack for range work or follow-up shots.
Is the Adjustable Trigger User-Safe?
Absolutely. The Bergara Performance Trigger is factory-set around 3–3.5 lbs and adjusts from 2–4 lbs with a simple Allen key — no removal or gunsmith time needed. The trigger has proper overtravel and engagement, and reviewers consistently call it crisp and on par with premium aftermarket triggers.
