Product Description

The Bergara B-14 Squared Crest in .22-250 Rem is purpose-built for backcountry hunters who refuse to compromise between weight and accuracy. At under 7 lbs, this rifle delivers sub-MOA performance straight from the box—no excuses, no luck. The 100% carbon fiber stock uses aerospace-grade CF-RTM construction, the same process trusted in automotive and aerospace engineering, paired with a fluted 4140 Chrome-Moly barrel threaded for suppressors or brakes. This is mountain rifle engineering without the mountain rifle price.

What Makes the B-14 Squared Crest Different

  • Aerospace-Grade Carbon Fiber Stock: CF-RTM construction is the same process used to manufacture automotive and aerospace components. The carbon spine runs throughout the stock, delivering exceptional rigidity without the weight penalty of traditional stocks. You get a 20-inch, sub-7-lb rifle that won’t flex when you’re glassing a canyon at altitude.
  • Fluted Barrel for Weight and Heat Dissipation: The fluted 4140 Chrome-Moly barrel sheds ounces while improving thermal performance. More surface area means faster cooling between shots—critical when you’re hunting in the field and won’t get a cease-fire between strings.
  • Remington 700 Footprint with a Stronger Action: The B-14 action uses the industry’s largest aftermarket ecosystem. Your rifle accepts every Remington 700 pattern stock, chassis, trigger, and scope mount ever made. The B-14’s two-lug design, coned bolt nose, and breech feed smoother than a Model 700, while the stronger bolt stop handles the stresses of precision shooting longer.
  • M5 Bottom Metal and AICS Magazine Compatibility: The M5 metal accepts standard AICS detachable magazines—Magpul PMAGs, MDT boxes, whatever you trust. Swap mags in the field or run a match stage without fumbling with hinged floorplates.

Why .22-250 for Mountain Hunting

The .22-250 Rem is a flat-shooting varmint and predator cartridge that delivers high velocity and minimal drop at extended range. In a 20-inch Crest, you’re carrying a rifle that shoots fast enough to dust coyotes, foxes, and prairie dogs at distance without the recoil penalty of larger calibers. It’s also inherently accurate—the cartridge’s case capacity and inherent velocity make sub-MOA results almost inevitable with quality ammunition. For hunters who want precision without recoil fatigue after a long pack-in, the .22-250 in this platform is a no-compromise choice.

Bergara’s Barrel Story

Bergara, Spain, has been manufacturing precision barrels for decades—earning a global reputation for consistency and accuracy that few companies match. Every barrel goes through a rigorous 5-step process: straightening the blank to specification, deep-hole drilling for consistency, three-spindle diamond honing to a mirror finish, button rifling with carbide buttons held to less than .0002″ groove diameter deviation, and high-temperature stress relieving to remove residual stresses. This is the same methodology used in hand-lapped custom barrels, executed at production scale and price. That commitment to process is why Bergara backs every rifle—including this Crest—with a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee straight from the box.

Bergara’s Heritage and Your Rifle

Bergara is both a company and a centuries-old gunmaking town in Spain’s Basque region. The B-14 Premier Series—which includes the Crest—is assembled in Lawrenceville, Georgia, by a team of former U.S. Marine Precision Weapons Section gunsmiths who built rifles for Marines in combat and competition worldwide. You’re buying a rifle assembled by people who understand what precision means when lives depend on it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the .22-250 come with the Bergara Omni Muzzle Brake?

Yes. Every B-14 Squared Crest ships with the Omni Muzzle Brake threaded 5/8×24 and installed. The brake helps manage recoil on larger calibers; on the .22-250, it’s less essential for recoil reduction and more useful for sound reduction or future suppressor compatibility if you decide to go that route. The barrel is fully threaded, so you can remove the brake and install a suppressor or a different device without modification.

Is the carbon fiber stock durable enough for backcountry hunting?

Yes. CF-RTM carbon fiber is the same material used in automotive and aerospace engineering specifically because it handles shock, impact, and environmental stress. The Crest stock won’t crack from a tumble into rocks, won’t warp in humidity, and won’t shift zero like some traditional wood stocks. The carbon spine throughout provides exceptional rigidity. This is not a fragile race gun stock—it’s a purpose-built mountain hunting stock engineered to last decades of hard use.

Can I swap the trigger or stock if I want to?

Absolutely. The B-14 action uses Remington 700 footprint, so you can install any Remington 700 pattern trigger (Timney, TriggerTech, Jewell, etc.) without modification. The rifle also accepts all R700-pattern stocks and chassis. That said, the factory Bergara Performance Trigger is crisp and adjustable 2–4 lbs via Allen key—no gunsmith required. Most shooters find it on par with premium aftermarket triggers and leave it alone.

What magazine should I use?

The Crest comes with M5 AICS-style bottom metal. It ships with a 5-round magazine and accepts Magpul PMAG M5 or MDT boxes. You can buy additional magazines off the shelf, and they’re affordable and reliable. AICS magazines are the standard in precision rifle, so you have options.

Is the rifle left-handed?

This model is right-handed only. Bergara does offer left-handed versions of B-14 models; contact us at Western Sport to inquire about lead times and availability for a southpaw build.

What’s included in the box?

Your Crest ships with the rifle, one 5-round M5 AICS magazine, Bergara Omni Muzzle Brake (installed), LOP spacers for the stock, and the manufacturer’s documentation. You’ll need to supply your own scope, mounting rings, and ammunition to get to the range.
