Specifications

What Makes the HMR Pro Different

• 416 Stainless Steel Barrel. Bergara’s Premier-grade barrels undergo additional honing procedures beyond the standard B-14 line, resulting in a mirror-smooth bore that shoots like a hand-lapped custom at production pricing.
• TriggerTech Frictionless Release Technology. This patented trigger design eliminates creep and maintains consistent, light pull weights regardless of weather—rain, mud, or subzero conditions. It’s the same trigger trusted in PRS competition and precision hunting.
• Premier Action with Floating Bolt Head. The two-lug system and separate floating bolt head ensure perfect lug contact on every shot. Nitrided components throughout (bolt head, gas shield, shroud) provide self-lubrication and extreme durability without requiring traditional lubrication—critical for reliability in harsh field conditions.
• Built by Former USMC Precision Weapons Section Personnel. Assembled in Lawrenceville, GA by a team that built rifles for Marines in combat and competition. Every detail reflects professional-grade assembly standards.

Bergara’s Barrel Story

Bergara is both a company and a town in Spain’s Basque region—a place with centuries of gunmaking heritage. The company has manufactured precision barrels for top-tier firearms manufacturers worldwide, earning a reputation for consistency that translates directly to accuracy. Every Premier-series barrel goes through Bergara’s rigorous 5-step process: precision straightening, deep-hole drilling, three-spindle diamond honing to a mirror finish, button rifling with carbide buttons held to less than .0002″ groove diameter deviation, and high-temperature stress relieving. This meticulous approach removes residual stress and ensures your barrel shoots like a hand-lapped custom—without the custom price tag or wait time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between the HMR Pro and the standard B-14 HMR?

The HMR Pro upgrades to Bergara’s Premier-grade 416 stainless steel barrel with additional honing procedures, the TriggerTech trigger system, and the Premier action featuring a floating bolt head and Nitrided components. These upgrades push accuracy and reliability to near-custom levels while maintaining factory rifle handling and serviceability.

Is .308 Winchester the right caliber for long-range hunting and PRS competition?

.308 Winchester is one of the most versatile and effective hunting calibers for ranges beyond 300 yards, and it remains highly competitive in PRS matches. It offers excellent ballistics, moderate recoil, and abundant ammunition availability. If you’re shooting beyond 800 yards regularly, consider Bergara’s 6.5 Creedmoor or 6.5 PRC options for superior ballistic coefficients.

Can I use standard Remington 700 scope bases and rings with this rifle?

Yes. The Premier action is compatible with R700 pattern scope bases using 8×40 screws. This interchangeability gives you access to a vast aftermarket ecosystem and makes upgrades straightforward. Most quality two-piece bases and rings will work without modification.

What’s included with the rifle, and what will I need to add?

The HMR Pro comes with the rifle, stock, magazine, and manual. You’ll need to add a scope or optic, scope base/rings, and ammunition to shoot. The threaded 5/8×24 barrel accommodates virtually any modern muzzle brake or suppressor if desired.

How reliable is the TriggerTech trigger in mud and extreme weather?

The TriggerTech Frictionless Release Technology was designed specifically for precision hunting and competition in all conditions. The patented design eliminates mechanical friction points that cause creep and performance drift. Field reports from PRS competitors and guides confirm consistent trigger function in rain, mud, snow, and freezing temperatures—no cleaning or lubrication required between shots.
