What Makes the Premier MG Lite Different
- First rifle chassis under 2 lbs: The XLR Element 4.0 magnesium chassis (28 oz) represents a breakthrough in ultralight precision rifle design. Magnesium construction and smart geometry eliminate dead weight without sacrificing rigidity or modularity.
- Folding carbon fiber buttstock: Your rifle collapses for pack transport and deploys instantly when you glass a ridge. No tools required—one move takes it from riding position to firing position.
- CURE Carbon barrel technology: Bergara’s proprietary carbon weave with embedded stainless strands manages heat during extended strings of fire. This matters on a 22-inch 300 PRC when you’re working up loads or shooting in thin air where every shot counts.
- Machined Arca-Swiss dovetail in the forend: Mount your rifle directly to any Arca-compatible tripod head—no rail adapters, no additional hardware. Precision tripod work becomes seamless.
- TriggerTech Frictionless Release: A competition-grade trigger break that maintains crisp, consistent performance in rain, mud, and below-zero conditions. Creep is eliminated by patented design, not adjustment.
Bergara’s Barrel Story
Bergara isn’t just a company—it’s a town in Spain’s Basque region, home to four centuries of gunmaking tradition. Bergara barrels are used by some of the world’s most demanding precision firearms manufacturers, and their 5-step manufacturing process explains why: straightening, deep-hole drilling, three-spindle diamond honing to a mirror finish, button rifling with carbide buttons held to less than .0002″ groove deviation, and high-temperature stress relieving. The result is sub-MOA accuracy at production prices. The Premier MG Lite is assembled in Lawrenceville, Georgia by a team including former USMC Precision Weapons Section veterans who built rifles for combat and competition use.
300 PRC: The Modern Magnum
The 300 PRC (Precision Rifle Cartridge) was designed to do what 300 Win Mag does—deliver serious downrange performance on big game—with higher velocity and better ballistics from modern powders and bullets. In a 22-inch barrel, you’re looking at approximately 2,900 fps with 225-grain match-grade bullets, or right around 2,900-2,950 fps with quality hunting loads. That’s enough velocity to maintain energy and expand reliably past 500 yards, and in the thin air of high country, every fps matters. The 300 PRC also feeds from AICS magazines, which means ammunition is easy to manage in the field and the platform scales to different cartridges without custom work.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is 300 PRC the right caliber for my hunt?
300 PRC is excellent for elk, moose, and large mule deer, especially in mountain country where shots often exceed 400 yards. If you hunt smaller game (mule deer under tough conditions, antelope, or lighter species), 6.5 PRC offers less recoil and comparable ballistics. For bears or thick brush, 300 Win Mag or larger cartridges may suit you better. Talk to us about your specific situation.
How compact does the MG Lite actually get when folded?
With the carbon fiber buttstock folded, the rifle is significantly more packable for backcountry access. Overall length is reduced by approximately 4 inches, making it easier to maneuver in timber, through saddles, and in and out of a pack. The fold is smooth and reliable—no springs, no play, no failure points.
Will the Arca-Swiss dovetail work with my existing tripod?
The machined RRS 1.5-inch dovetail on the MG Lite is compatible with any tripod head designed for Arca-Swiss mounting—including brands like Really Right Stuff, Sirui, Leofoto, and others. You may need to purchase a separate Arca-Swiss clamp if your tripod head uses a different quick-release system, but the standard Arca interface is universal.
Is the XLR Element 4.0 chassis user-adjustable for length of pull and comb height?
The XLR Element 4.0 is engineered for fast, repeatable adjustments. Length of pull and cheek rest geometry can be tuned, and because it’s a modular magnesium chassis, upgrade parts are available if you want to customize ergonomics. Call us for specific adjustment details.
What’s the warranty on the MG Lite?
Bergara backs the Premier MG Lite with a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee and a standard manufacturer’s warranty on parts and assembly. We can provide full warranty details and register your rifle when you purchase.
