What Makes the Bergara MG Lite Different
- XLR Element 4.0 Magnesium Chassis Under 2 lbs: At 28 oz, this is the first rifle chassis system in the world to break the 2-pound barrier. The magnesium construction saves weight without sacrificing rigidity, and the integrated bubble level keeps your precision dialed in even on steep terrain.
- CURE Carbon Barrel with Embedded Stainless: Bergara’s proprietary carbon fiber weave wraps a stainless steel core with embedded stainless strands for thermal management. Extended strings of fire won’t walk your groups—the barrel dissipates heat while maintaining the accuracy promise you signed up for.
- Machined RRS 1.5-Inch Arca-Swiss Dovetail: Your rifle mounts directly to any Arca-compatible tripod or head with zero additional hardware. This is how modern precision rifles connect to modern glass and shooting platforms.
- Folding Carbon Fiber Buttstock: Your rifle folds compact for vertical pack transport, then deploys in seconds for shooting. The carbon fiber construction matches the weight-saving DNA of the entire platform.
- TriggerTech Frictionless Release Technology: A competition-grade trigger break in field conditions. It eliminates creep and heavy pull weights, and it performs in rain, mud, and freezing temperatures—conditions where lesser triggers crumble.
Bergara’s Barrel Story
Bergara doesn’t cut corners on the metal that matters. The company’s 5-step barrel process—straightening, deep-hole drilling, three-spindle diamond honing to a mirror finish, button rifling with carbide buttons held to less than .0002" groove diameter deviation, and high-temperature stress relieving—produces barrels that shoot like hand-lapped customs at production prices. Every Premier Series rifle is assembled in Lawrenceville, GA by a team that includes former USMC Precision Weapons Section alumni who built rifles for Marines in combat and competition worldwide. That heritage shows on paper.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is 6.5 Creedmoor the right caliber for elk?
Yes. The 6.5 Creedmoor delivers excellent ballistics for elk at standard hunting ranges (under 600 yards) with factory ammunition readily available and cheaper than premium magnums. It generates less recoil and wind drift than larger calibers, which matters on a mountain rifle you’re carrying all day. If you’re regularly shooting past 700 yards in open country, consider the 6.5 PRC variant (which uses a 3-round magazine in the AICS system). For most mountain hunts, the 6.5 Creedmoor is more than enough gun and easier to shoot accurately.
How much does the rifle actually weigh, and how much of that is the chassis?
The complete rifle weighs 6.6 to 6.8 lbs ready to shoot. The XLR Element 4.0 chassis system—magnesium chassis, folding carbon fiber buttstock, carbon fiber grip, and built-in level—weighs just 28 oz (1.75 lbs). The 22-inch CURE Carbon barrel is also exceptionally light. Every component was chosen to save weight without cutting accuracy or durability.
Will my current scope base and rings work on the Premier action?
The Premier action uses R700 pattern scope bases with standard 8×40 screws, so your existing Remington 700–compatible bases will work fine. However, the machined RRS 1.5-inch Arca-Swiss dovetail in the forend is a significant upgrade if you’re using a modern tripod or ball head. Many shooters pair this rifle with a lightweight Arca-compatible mount for direct rifle-to-tripod connection—no separate scope base required.
