Product Description
The Bergara B-14 Stoke Compact Special Purpose in .223 Rem is built for shooters who’ve spent years hearing “make it work” with a full-size rifle that never fit. This isn’t a youth rifle that looks like one—it’s a purpose-engineered platform with a 12.25-inch length of pull, negative comb angle, and Bergara’s sub-MOA accuracy guarantee standard. The 16.5-inch threaded barrel in .223 Rem makes it an ideal suppressor-ready option for home defense, varmint hunting, and precision shooting from positions where a standard rifle simply won’t work.

What Makes the B-14 Stoke Compact Special Purpose Different
- Industry-leading 12.25-inch length of pull — the shortest centerfire bolt-action available. Proper fit means you control the rifle; the rifle doesn’t control you. Shorter LOP also translates to faster target re-acquisition and less fatigue in prone, kneeling, and barricade positions.
- Negative comb angle that raises your eye naturally — you align your scope without stretching or slouching, and recoil impact transfers downrange instead of back into your face. This geometry works for everyone, not just shorter shooters.
- Threaded 16.5-inch barrel for suppressor integration — .223 Rem is inherently quiet when suppressed; add Bergara’s precision and you have a hearing-safe, sub-MOA platform. No muzzle devices, no permanent brakes—just a clean, threaded muzzle ready for your suppressor setup.
- AICS detachable magazine system — faster magazine changes, more ergonomic than internal boxes, and unmatched aftermarket support. Load, shoot, reload—no fumbling with floor plates in the field.
- Included LOP spacers mean the rifle grows with you — youth hunters become adult shooters without buying a new rifle. The same platform that fits a 5’2″ competitor will fit a 5’10” adult with the spacers removed.
- Remington 700 action footprint — the aftermarket ecosystem with the longest history. Stocks, chassis, triggers, scope mounts—if it fits a 700, it fits your Stoke. You’re never locked into proprietary upgrades.
Bergara’s Barrel Story
Bergara has been manufacturing precision barrels in the Basque region of Spain for decades, building barrels for some of the world’s most respected firearms companies. The five-step Bergara process starts with straightening and deep-hole drilling, moves through three-spindle diamond honing to a mirror finish, applies button rifling with carbide buttons held to less than .0002″ groove diameter deviation, and finishes with high-temp stress relieving. That process is one reason the B-14 Stoke carries a sub-MOA guarantee straight from the box—your barrel is built like a custom, priced like production.
Why This Rifle Works for Suppressor Use and Home Defense
.223 Rem is the ballistic sweet spot for suppressed rifles: low recoil, minimal backpressure on the action, and hearing-safe performance at subsonic or standard velocities. Bergara’s Stoke platform adds precision—every rifle shoots sub-MOA—and the compact dimensions mean you can move through tight spaces without the muzzle leading you around corners. The threaded barrel and compact stock make this a true purpose-built home defense and suppressor platform, not a compromise.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose .223 Rem over .300 Blackout or .350 Legend for a suppressed rifle?
.223 Rem offers the flattest trajectory, the widest commercial ammunition selection, and the lowest cost per round. With a suppressor, standard-velocity .223 is hearing-safe and delivers consistent sub-MOA accuracy. .300 BLK excels with subsonic loads but requires handloading for best results. If you’re building your first suppressed rifle, .223 Rem is the most versatile caliber on the Stoke platform.
Will the 12.25-inch length of pull fit me if I’m average-sized or larger?
The included 1/4-inch LOP spacers let you extend the stock by half an inch per spacer. Two spacers bring you to 12.75 inches, which works well for shooters up to about 5’10” with shorter arms. If you’re much larger, we’d recommend the full-size B-14 series. Call 817-393-4000 and we can help you figure out which platform is right for your build.
Is the Bergara Performance Trigger safe for hunting and home defense?
Yes. The factory setting is around 3 to 3.5 lbs—crisp, clean, and consistent enough for precision rifle work but not so light that you risk accidental discharge. You can adjust it yourself from 2 to 4 lbs with an Allen key, no gunsmith required. Most shooters leave it factory-set and report it’s on par with aftermarket triggers costing twice as much.
What suppressor length works best with the 16.5-inch barrel?
A 5 to 7-inch suppressor is ideal. That keeps your total package under 24 inches and maintains balance in the compact form factor. Longer suppressors work fine but will be noticeably front-heavy. We recommend shooting a few rounds unsuppressed first to confirm zero, then verifying accuracy with your suppressor installed—suppressor weight and can harmonics can shift zero slightly.
Does the Stoke accept standard AR-15 magazines or .223 ammunition?
The Stoke uses a true AICS-pattern detachable magazine—not AR-15 pattern, so standard AR mags won’t fit. However, AICS magazines are inexpensive and readily available. As for ammunition, any commercial .223 Rem round will cycle and fire. The sub-MOA guarantee assumes quality factory ammunition; some shooters handload for even tighter groups, but it’s not necessary out of the box.
What’s the aftermarket support like for the B-14 action?
The B-14 uses the Remington 700 footprint, which has decades of aftermarket history. Stocks, chassis systems, upgraded triggers, scope mounts, and rail systems all work with your Stoke. If you ever want to swap to a tactical chassis or a different stock, you’re not locked in—thousands of options exist at every price point.
