The Daniel Defense Carbine H Buffer is a 3.8 oz carbine buffer assembly for use in M4-type receiver extension tubes, and it is the standard first step for an AR-15 or M4-pattern carbine whose carrier is cycling faster than it should. It is not compatible with the DD5V1, DD5V2 or Ambush .308.

Every shot puts energy into the bolt carrier, and the buffer and spring absorb it before the carrier reaches the back of the tube. When a gas system delivers more than they can handle, the rifle tells you: brass thrown forward, a snappy impulse, bolt bounce on the last round, wear on the buffer retainer.
