Product Description
The Daniel Defense DDM4 PDW in .300 Blackout represents purpose-built close-quarters firepower. This 7-inch barreled configuration collapses to just 20.75 inches overall, making it ideal for vehicle operations and tight tactical spaces. Every Daniel Defense rifle ships hand-assembled, quality-assured, and test-fired from the factory.
The Maxim Defense CQB Gen 7 collapsible stock integrates its own enhanced buffer system. This engineering keeps the short barrel cycling reliably whether you run it suppressed or unsuppressed. The .300 Blackout cartridge was designed for exactly this role—consistent performance from ultra-short barrels.
At 5.7 pounds, this PDW weighs significantly less than a full-length carbine. The 5/8×24 threaded muzzle is ready for a suppressor. The cobalt Cerakote finish provides durability and a professional tactical appearance that stands out on the range or in the field.

This rifle is configured with a barrel under 16 inches and a fixed shoulder stock, which makes it a Short-Barreled Rifle (SBR) under the National Firearms Act (NFA) — a Title II firearm. As of January 1, 2026, the federal making/transfer tax on SBRs was reduced to $0 under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act — but the item remains fully regulated. Before taking possession, the buyer (or their trust/entity) must still have an approved ATF Form 1 (if building/registering) or Form 4 (if transferring an already-registered SBR) on file, along with fingerprints, photos, and a completed NFA background check (no tax payment is due). Current eForm approval times have been running about two weeks or less, though times vary — see our NFA wait times guide for current figures. The rifle must be transferred through Western Sport’s SOT/Class 3 process to a licensed dealer in the buyer’s state, and some states restrict or prohibit SBR ownership outright. Western Sport cannot advise on individual compliance — buyers are responsible for following all applicable federal, state, and local law.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What ammunition works best in the .300 Blackout DDM4 PDW?
A: The .300 Blackout excels with both supersonic and subsonic loads. Subsonic rounds paired with a suppressor deliver hearing-safe performance. Consult ammunition manufacturer pressure specs to ensure compatibility with your intended setup.
Q: What optics and accessories mount to this rifle?
A: The DDM4’s Picatinny rail accepts any standard red dot, magnified optic, or night-vision mount. M-LOK slots on the handguard and foregrip area host tactical lights, vertical grips, and slings. Standard AR-pattern magazines and accessories remain fully compatible.
Q: How does the 7-inch barrel compare to longer DDM4 configurations?
A: The 7-inch PDW sacrifices velocity for maneuverability and compactness. Longer barrels extract more energy from each round, but this short configuration dominates close-quarters and vehicle use. Choose based on your intended role and engagement distances.
Q: What comes in the box, and what is Western Sport’s return policy?
A: Your DDM4 ships with the rifle, magazine, and documentation. Inspect upon arrival and contact us immediately with any concerns. We stand behind manufacturer warranties and work with Daniel Defense on service issues.
Q: What is the M-LOK handguard on this rifle?
A: Daniel Defense’s free-float M-LOK handguard lets you attach lights, lasers, and grips directly to the rail using the M-LOK slot system — no separate rail sections required. Additionally, the handguard floats independently of the barrel, so attachments don’t shift your zero. A continuous top rail provides a stable mounting surface for optics.
Q: Do I need to file ATF paperwork or pay a tax stamp for this rifle?
A: Yes. This rifle’s barrel is under 16 inches with a shoulder stock attached, which makes it a Short-Barreled Rifle (SBR) under the NFA. As of January 1, 2026, the federal making/transfer tax on SBRs dropped to $0, so you’ll need an approved ATF Form 1 or Form 4 and a completed background check before taking possession, but no tax payment is due. The rifle must transfer through a licensed Class 3/SOT dealer.
