Product Description
The Daniel Defense DDM4 Critical Components Parts Kit is a package of frequently requested replacement wear parts for a DDM4, AR15 or M16 chambered in 5.56mm, 6.8 SPC or 300 Blackout – the small internals that end range days when they fail.
Nothing in the kit is glamorous and all of it is the difference between a rifle that runs and a rifle that does not. Gas rings lose their seal and the gun starts short-stroking. An extractor spring goes soft and cases stay in the chamber. A firing pin retaining pin walks out and the rifle stops being a rifle. Buying these individually, one at a time, after each failure is how people end up with a rifle down for a week over a part the size of a paperclip.
The sensible use is as a spares tin: one kit in the range bag or the armorer’s box per rifle, so a failure at a class or a match is a five-minute fix rather than a drive home. It is also the right box to open when a high-round-count upper gets a scheduled refresh.

What it covers and what it does not
This is a wear-parts kit, not a bolt or a bolt carrier group. It covers the springs, pins and small components inside the bolt and the extractor assembly, plus a carbine buffer spring for the back end. If your bolt body itself is cracked or your carrier is worn, that is a different purchase. Look at our bolt carrier groups and charging handles for that, our upper receiver parts section, or the general parts category.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is in the kit?
A: Firing pin, firing pin retaining pin, bolt gas rings, extractor spring O-ring, extractor spring assembly, M4 standard extractor, pivot extractor pin, ejector, ejector and safety detent spring, and a carbine buffer spring retail assembly. It is the small wear-parts list, assembled in one package.
Q: Does it fit a 300 Blackout or 6.8 SPC upper?
A: Yes. The kit is specified for a DDM4, AR15 or M16 chambered in 5.56mm, 6.8 SPC or 300 Blackout. Those chamberings share the bolt-face family and the same small internals, which is why one kit covers all three. A .308-based rifle is a different platform and needs its own kit.
Q: Is a bolt or a complete bolt carrier group part of this kit?
A: No. The kit is the consumable internals – gas rings, extractor and its spring and O-ring, ejector, firing pin, pins and springs – not a bolt body or a carrier. Think of it as the parts that wear out inside the bolt you already own rather than a replacement for the bolt itself.
Q: Why do bolt gas rings need replacing?
A: Gas rings seal the bolt inside the carrier so gas can drive the carrier rearward. As they wear, that seal leaks and the rifle starts short-stroking, usually when it is dirty or cold. They are a scheduled-maintenance item on a high-round-count rifle, and they are in this kit.
Q: What does the extractor spring O-ring do?
A: It sits inside or around the extractor spring and adds extraction tension, which helps the extractor hold the case rim reliably as the bolt unlocks. A tired extractor spring and missing O-ring show up as failures to extract and stovepipes.
Q: Is this a good spare parts kit to keep with a duty or class rifle?
A: That is exactly what it is for – frequently requested parts for a DDM4, AR15 or M16 in one package. If your rifle runs a carbine class or a patrol shift, these are the items most likely to end a range day, and none of them takes more than a few minutes to change at a bench.
