The Daniel Defense DDM4 M4A1 Rifle in Mil-Spec+ is a semi-automatic 5.56 NATO rifle built on a 14.5" M4 profile cold hammer forged barrel with a carbine-length gas system, the M4A1 RIS II Picatinny quad rail and a Daniel Defense flash suppressor pinned and welded, finished in Mil-Spec+ Cerakote and built by Daniel Defense as a California Compliant SKU.
Mil-Spec+ is a Cerakote finish option Daniel Defense offers on the M4A1, and it is the reason to choose this SKU over a black one. Cerakote over the receivers and rail gives a harder, more corrosion-resistant surface than anodizing alone and a slightly warmer, grey-green cast that hides wear.
That configuration matters. The RIS II is the two-piece free-floating Picatinny quad rail Daniel Defense supplies for the SOPMOD Block II programme, with a patented bolt-up attachment to the upper receiver. The 14.5" M4 profile barrel runs a carbine-length gas system, and because the flash suppressor is pinned and welded, barrel and device measure over 16 inches permanently — so this is a rifle, not an NFA item.
