Product Description
The Daniel Defense DDM4 M4A1 SOCOM Rifle, part number 02-088-06027-067, is a semi-automatic 5.56 NATO rifle with a 14.5″ cold hammer forged M4 profile barrel, a pinned and welded Daniel Defense flash suppressor and the RIS II quad rail in Flat Dark Earth, supplied without a magazine.
The no-magazine part number exists for one reason: magazine capacity is restricted in a number of states and localities, and a rifle bound for those places goes out without a magazine so a compliant one can be fitted locally. If capacity is not an issue for you, order the standard FDE M4A1 configuration instead.

Magazine capacity is a local question
Capacity restrictions are set by your state and sometimes your city or county, and they are amended periodically, so confirm the current position for your address before ordering. Call 817-393-4000 once you know the limit and we will match a magazine to it. We do not offer legal opinions on capacity law.
Ordering from Western Sport in Roanoke, TX
Roanoke, Texas is home to Western Sport, a licensed FFL/SOT dealer since 2007, Daniel Defense master dealer, gunsmith on site. As a rifle, this M4A1 must be transferred through a licensed FFL, either at our counter or at a dealer local to you. Dial 817-393-4000 to get started.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What makes this part number different from the usual M4A1?
A: Only the magazine. Daniel Defense builds it to the same specification and leaves the magazine out, because capacity limits in some states and localities make shipping one impractical. The delivering dealer then supplies a magazine that meets the local requirement.
Q: Is the 14.5″ barrel an NFA concern?
A: No. The Daniel Defense flash suppressor is pinned and welded, permanently taking the barrel to the 16-inch minimum, so this is a standard Title I rifle with no tax stamp involved. It still has to transfer through a licensed FFL.
Q: What is the RIS II rail?
A: It is the Picatinny quad rail Daniel Defense builds for the M4A1, the pattern that US Special Operations Command has fielded on the SOPMOD Block II programme since 2005. On this part number it is finished in Flat Dark Earth. Accessories mount to Picatinny slots.
Q: How heavy is it?
A: 6.74 lbs bare, with an overall length of 31 1/2″ to 34 3/4″ including the muzzle device depending on where the stock is set. The quad rail accounts for some of that weight compared with the M-LOK handguards used elsewhere in the DDM4 range.
Q: Which magazine do I need?
A: Any magazine that fits the standard M4A1 will fit this one, since the magazine well is unchanged. The question is what capacity you may legally own. Verify your own state and local rules, then call 817-393-4000 and we will recommend something compliant.
Q: Can I collect it in Roanoke or must it be shipped?
A: Either. This is a rifle, so it must transfer through a licensed FFL; ours is in Roanoke, Texas if you want to collect, or we can ship to a dealer near you. Call 817-393-4000 and we will confirm what your state requires.
