Product Description
The Daniel Defense DDM4 / Slim Rail / Lite Rail Hardware Pack is the 2 oz set of replacement mounting parts required to install a DDM4 Rail, SLiM Rail or AR15 LITE Rail III handguard: one Bolt-Up System barrel nut, one DDM4 Rail / SLiM Rail / LITE III bolt-up plate in black, and four socket head cap screws.
This hardware comes with the purchase of a complete rail system, so the pack is only necessary if you damaged or misplaced your original parts – a rail bought used with nothing but the handguard, a barrel nut left on a previous build, a bolt-up plate that went into a parts bin.
The barrel nut is what makes this the fuller of the two packs we list for these rails. Daniel Defense rails use the patented Bolt-Up System, which secures the handguard to the upper receiver with a steel barrel nut and a bolt-up plate and gives a flat-top upper a free-floating, uninterrupted upper rail platform. Miss either part and the screws have nothing to pull against.

Identify the handguard, not the rifle
The model on the magwell does not tell you which handguard is on the front, so look at the rail: its attachment method, clamping arrangement and markings. DDM4 Rail, SLiM Rail and AR15 LITE Rail III take this pack; the RIS II takes its own; MFR and MFR XL are not named here. Unsure? Photograph it and call 817-393-4000. Related listings are in our rail and handguard accessories and rails and handguards sections, with complete units in handguards and forends.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Which handguards does this hardware pack fit?
A: It is the replacement mounting parts required to install a DDM4 Rail, a SLiM Rail, or an AR15 LITE Rail III handguard. Those three share this hardware set. A RIS II uses its own pack, which we list separately, so identify the handguard rather than going by the rifle model.
Q: What is in the pack?
A: One Bolt-Up System barrel nut, one DDM4 Rail / SLiM Rail / LITE III bolt-up plate in black, and four socket head cap screws, at a total weight of 2 oz. That is the complete mounting set for those three rails, not a bag of spare fasteners.
Q: Does it cover an MFR or MFR XL rail?
A: MFR and MFR XL are not named in this pack’s fitment, so treat them as unconfirmed even though they use the same Bolt-Up System barrel nut wrench. Call 817-393-4000 with your handguard and we will tell you which pack applies rather than sell you a bolt-up plate cut for a different rail.
Q: Is the barrel nut really part of this pack?
A: Yes – one Bolt-Up System barrel nut is in it, and that is the main reason to choose this pack over the screw pack. The Bolt-Up System secures the handguard to the upper receiver with a steel barrel nut and a bolt-up plate, so without the nut there is nothing for the rail to mount to.
Q: Do I need it if I am buying a complete rail?
A: No. This hardware comes with the purchase of a complete rail system, so the pack is only necessary if you damaged or misplaced your original parts. It is the order to place when a rail arrives second-hand with no nut or plate.
Q: What else do I need to fit the rail?
A: The Bolt-Up System barrel nut has to be driven with the proprietary Bolt-Up System barrel nut wrench, a separate part number designed for a 1/2 Drive Torque Wrench. You also want the upper held in a reaction rod or vise block, and clean threads. Our gunsmith in Roanoke has all of it.
