Product Description
The Daniel Defense H9 RDS Adapter Plate 4 Kit (part 28-196-16616) is the Docter / Noblex standard footprint plate for the DANIEL H9 pistol, machined from stainless steel and supplied with all necessary mounting hardware and an installation tool. Of the four H9 plates, Plate 4 covers by far the longest list of named optics – Daniel Defense assigns more than forty to it.
That is because the Docter/Noblex pattern has been adopted by a long tail of manufacturers. If you own a Vortex Venom or Viper, a Burris FastFire, a Sightmark Mini Shot, a Docter or Noblex sight, or anything from ADE Advanced Optics, this is very likely your plate.

Which of the four plates do you need?
- Plate 1 — Shield standard footprint
- Plate 2 — Trijicon RMR / SRO footprint
- Plate 3 — C-More standard footprint
- Plate 4 — Docter / Noblex standard footprint
Docter and Noblex are the same sights under two names, Noblex being current, which is why both appear above. Either takes this plate. See our optic plates and adapters and red dot sights.
Fitting the plate
The plate fastens to the slide with two T-15 Torx Plus screws, alignment arrow toward the muzzle. The kit contains the mounting plate, all necessary mounting hardware and an installation tool, and Daniel Defense is specific that you should use the provided tool to prevent stripping the threads. The slide is 4340 alloy steel and those threads are small: seat the plate flat, use the supplied tool, leave the power driver alone.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Which footprint is Daniel Defense H9 Plate 4?
A: The Docter / Noblex standard footprint. Plate 4 is the plate Daniel Defense’s RDS index assigns to the Docter and Noblex sights themselves plus the many optics built on the same pattern, which is why it carries more named optics than any of the other three H9 plates.
Q: Will Plate 4 mount a Vortex Venom or Viper on a DANIEL H9?
A: Yes. Daniel Defense lists both the Vortex Venom and the Vortex Viper under Plate 4. The kit includes all necessary mounting hardware and an installation tool for fitting the plate; the optic’s own screws come with the optic. Call 817-393-4000 to check that hardware.
Q: Does Plate 4 cover the Burris FastFire series?
A: Yes. Daniel Defense assigns the Burris FastFire 2, FastFire 3 and FastFire 4 to Plate 4, along with the Sightmark Mini Shot M-Spec and Pro Spec, the Athlon Midas TSR1, the Primary Arms SLx RS-10 and the full ADE Advanced Optics range listed on this page.
Q: Are Docter and Noblex sights the same footprint?
A: Yes. Noblex is the current name for what was sold as Docter, and Daniel Defense’s index lists both under Plate 4 with matching model names: QUICKsight 5.0 VR, Sight 2 Plus, Sight 3 and Sight C appear under each brand. Either one takes this plate.
Q: How does the plate fasten to the H9?
A: With two T-15 Torx Plus screws into the slide, alignment arrow facing the muzzle. Daniel Defense includes all necessary mounting hardware and an installation tool in the kit and instructs owners to use the provided tool, specifically to prevent stripping of the threads.
Q: What is the plate made of?
A: Stainless steel. The plate carries the entire load path between the reciprocating slide and the optic, twice per shot, so it is built as a structural part rather than a spacer. Stainless also tolerates the sweat, solvents and oils a carry pistol’s slide sees.
