The Daniel Defense M4A1 is a semi-auto rifle in 5.56 NATO with a 14.5″ chrome-lined barrel. It runs a direct impingement system with a carbine gas system and an internal hammer firing system. The finish is Deep Woods Green Cerakote, and overall length is 34.75″.
What sets it apart
The barrel has a 1:7″ twist and a permanent Daniel Defense flash suppressor on the muzzle. Up front is the Daniel Defense M4A1 RIS II rail. At the rear you get a Daniel Defense buttstock and pistol grip. The trigger is mil-spec, the charging handle is a GRIP-N-RIP, and a manual safety is fitted. It feeds from polymer AR-style magazines and holds 32+1 rounds.
This rifle suits owners who want a Daniel Defense carbine for range days, training classes and general-purpose use. The rifle has no sights, so it needs an optic or a set of backup sights before you shoot it. A red dot or a low-power variable optic both fit the way this kind of carbine is usually set up.
Good accessories to pair with it include a sling, a weapon light, extra AR-style magazines, a cleaning kit and a padded rifle case for the trip to the range.
