Product Description
The Daniel Defense RIS II Hardware Pack, Flat Dark Earth is the 3 oz set of replacement mounting parts required to install a Flat Dark Earth MK18 RIS II or M4A1 RIS II handguard: one Bolt-Up System barrel nut, one RIS II bolt-up plate in Flat Dark Earth, four long socket head rail screws, two short socket head rail screws, and six flat head rail screws with washers.
This hardware comes with the purchase of a complete rail system, so the pack is only necessary if you damaged or misplaced your original parts – a RIS II bought used with no barrel nut, a bolt-up plate lost during a barrel change, or fasteners reused once too often.
The colour is not decoration: this is the Flat Dark Earth version because the bolt-up plate in it is the FDE plate, and the pack is specified for an FDE MK18 RIS II or M4A1 RIS II handguard.

Hardware pack, screw pack, or neither?
Work out what you are missing. Screws only, nut and plate present: order the RIS II Screw Pack. Barrel nut or bolt-up plate missing or damaged: this pack, because the Bolt-Up System needs the steel nut and the plate to secure the handguard to the upper receiver. Fitting it also wants the Bolt-Up System barrel nut wrench, listed separately. See our rail and handguard accessories, our rails and handguards and the wider upper receiver parts section.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is in this hardware pack?
A: One Bolt-Up System barrel nut, one RIS II bolt-up plate in Flat Dark Earth, four long socket head rail screws, two short socket head rail screws, and six flat head rail screws with washers. Total weight is 3 oz. It is the full mounting set, not fasteners alone.
Q: Which handguard does it fit?
A: It is the replacement mounting parts required to install a Flat Dark Earth MK18 RIS II or M4A1 RIS II handguard. So the fitment is specific on two counts: the RIS II rail family, and the Flat Dark Earth version of it, because the bolt-up plate in this pack is the FDE plate.
Q: Does the Flat Dark Earth finish only matter cosmetically?
A: Not here. This pack is specified for a Flat Dark Earth MK18 RIS II or M4A1 RIS II handguard, and the bolt-up plate it carries is the FDE plate. If your RIS II is black, tell us on 817-393-4000 and we will order the matching pack rather than leave an FDE plate on a black rail.
Q: Do I need this pack if I am buying a complete rail system?
A: No. This hardware comes with the purchase of a complete rail system, so the pack is only necessary if you damaged or misplaced your original parts. The common case is a RIS II acquired second-hand without its nut, plate or fasteners.
Q: How is it different from the RIS II screw pack?
A: The screw pack is the twelve rail screws on their own at 1.2 oz. This hardware pack is 3 oz and adds the Bolt-Up System barrel nut and the FDE RIS II bolt-up plate to that same screw complement. If the nut and plate are missing, the screw pack will not get the rail mounted.
Q: What is the bolt-up plate actually for?
A: The Bolt-Up System secures the handguard to the upper receiver with a steel barrel nut and a bolt-up plate, which is what gives a flat-top upper a free-floating, continuous, uninterrupted upper rail platform and simplifies alignment to the host receiver. Without the plate there is nothing for the rail to bolt to.
