Product Description

The Magpul Industries MOE Vertical Grip Fits M-LOK Hand Guards Black Finish is a direct-attach vertical foregrip designed to mount to M-LOK compatible handguards without adapters or additional hardware.

This grip provides a forward hand position that helps control muzzle rise during rapid fire. The vertical orientation suits shooters who prefer a thumb-over-bore grip or traditional vertical hold.

Because it mounts directly into M-LOK slots, the MOE Vertical Grip eliminates the weight and bulk of Picatinny rail sections. The slim profile keeps the overall width of your rifle compact.

How the M-LOK Mounting System Works

M-LOK uses narrow slots machined into the handguard rather than continuous Picatinny rails. The MOE Vertical Grip slides into these slots and locks with T-nuts that pull tight from inside the mounting channel.

This direct-attach method keeps weight down and lets you position the grip exactly where your hand falls naturally. You can slide it forward or back along any M-LOK slot before tightening.

Older handguards with KeyMod slots or Picatinny rails will not accept this grip without an adapter. Confirm your handguard has M-LOK slots before ordering.

Vertical Grip vs. Angled Grip Choice

A vertical grip like the MOE keeps your wrist straight and gives you leverage to pull the rifle into your shoulder. It works well for shooters who press forward with the support hand or who use a thumb-forward hold on the side of the handguard.

Angled grips position your wrist at a shallower angle and can feel more natural if you already rest your thumb on top of the rail. Both styles appear across our grips, pads and stocks category.

Your shooting stance and arm length determine which style fits better. Neither is universally superior.

What to Know Before You Buy

Federal law treats vertical foregrips on AR pistols and other firearms with barrels under 16 inches differently than on rifles. Installing a vertical grip on a pistol can reclassify it as an Any Other Weapon subject to NFA registration.

Angled grips typically do not trigger this reclassification because the ATF measures the angle of the grip surface. If you are building or modifying a pistol, confirm the legal status before installation.

Send us a message if you need guidance on whether a particular configuration requires ATF approval.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the Magpul MOE M-LOK Vertical Grip fit Picatinny rail handguards?

A: No, this grip mounts only to M-LOK slots. Picatinny rail handguards require a different grip model designed for rail attachment, or you can add an M-LOK rail section to a Picatinny rail if you want to use M-LOK accessories.

Q: Can I install a vertical grip on an AR-15 pistol?

A: Installing a true vertical foregrip on a pistol with a barrel under 16 inches can reclassify it as an Any Other Weapon under federal law, requiring ATF registration. Angled grips generally do not trigger this rule, but confirm your specific build with an FFL before installation.

Q: What is the difference between M-LOK and KeyMod?

A: M-LOK uses rectangular slots with a T-nut attachment system, while KeyMod uses keyhole-shaped cutouts. The two systems are not compatible. This Magpul MOE grip works only with M-LOK handguards.

Q: How far forward should I mount a vertical grip on my rifle?

A: Mount the grip where your support hand naturally falls when you shoulder the rifle. Taller shooters with longer arms often place it farther forward, while shorter shooters position it closer to the magazine well. The M-LOK system lets you adjust position along any slot.

Q: Does this grip work with KeyMod handguards?

A: No, this model is designed for M-LOK slots only. Magpul makes separate grips for KeyMod handguards, and you can also find KeyMod-to-Picatinny adapters if you want to use rail-mount grips.

Q: Who should I call to confirm compatibility with my handguard?

A: Send us a message if you are unsure whether your handguard uses M-LOK, KeyMod, or Picatinny mounting. We can help identify your handguard type and recommend compatible accessories.
