🔇 No Form 4 needed — since October 9, 2026 a suppressor transfers on a standard Form 4473 and background check, with no tax stamp or wait. Texas buyers can complete it with us; out-of-state orders ship to an SOT dealer in your state. How it works.
The Otter Creek Labs Universe-36 is a 7″ 9mm suppressor engineered for hearing-safe shooting at the range, hunting, and home defense. HUB-compatible design delivers effective noise reduction.
Update, October 9, 2026: ATF no longer requires a Form 4, tax stamp, fingerprints or registration for suppressors, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns or AOWs. They now transfer on a standard Form 4473 with a background check. Anything below that mentions a Form 4, a wait or a tax stamp was written before this change. What changed
The Otter Creek Labs Universe-36 9mm suppressor is a precision-engineered sound reduction device built for shooters who demand quiet, reliable performance. This 7″ suppressor features HUB mount compatibility and Inconel construction for durability. The Universe-36 delivers exceptional noise reduction for 9mm firearms, making it ideal for hearing protection at the range and hunting scenarios.
Additionally, the low back pressure endcap design minimizes felt recoil and cycling issues. This makes the Universe-36 a versatile choice for both semi-automatic and specialized platforms. Furthermore, the matte black finish provides a professional appearance while resisting corrosion during extended use.
Key Features & Specifications
The Universe-36 measures 7 inches in length and weighs 14 ounces, balancing size and portability. Its HUB mount system ensures secure attachment to compatible barrels. Moreover, the Inconel construction handles sustained fire without degradation, making it suitable for intensive range sessions and hunting trips.
The 9mm low back pressure endcap is specifically tuned for 9mm ammunition. This design reduces back pressure, which is particularly beneficial for suppressed shooting comfort and accuracy. The Universe-36 does not include a mount, so you’ll need a compatible HUB-threaded barrel.
Ideal Use Cases
Shooters value the Universe-36 for hearing-safe hunting where noise reduction keeps you undetected and protects your hearing. Furthermore, it excels as a range suppressor, allowing extended practice sessions without fatigue from sound exposure. Additionally, the Universe-36 serves home defense applications where noise control is a practical advantage in defensive scenarios.
Whether you’re a dedicated hunter, competitive shooter, or home defense focused, the Otter Creek Labs Universe-36 delivers consistent performance.

Buying a suppressor now: a Form 4473 and a background check. No Form 4.
Since October 9, 2026, ATF no longer requires a Form 4, tax stamp, fingerprints, photos or registration to buy a suppressor. It transfers like any other firearm: you fill out a Form 4473, pass a NICS background check, and it is yours. No months-long wait.
Texas buyers: suppressors are legal under Texas law. Western Sport has been an SOT / Class III dealer since 2007.
Outside Texas: we ship to an SOT dealer in your state, who completes the 4473 with you. Your state’s law still decides — some states ban suppressors, and some only allow ones registered with ATF.
Want it registered anyway? ATF still accepts a voluntary Form 4. Ask us.
