Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will RCBS Formula 2 work in my vibrating case tumbler?

A: Yes, RCBS Formula 2 works in any standard vibrating case tumbler. However, check your tumbler’s capacity before purchasing, as most tumblers use between 2–5 pounds of media. Additionally, you can mix rifle and pistol cases in one cleaning batch without any issues.

Q: Can I use this media for both rifle and pistol cases?

A: Absolutely. RCBS Formula 2 cleans all common rifle and pistol calibers with equal effectiveness. Furthermore, you can tumble different case types together in the same batch without any compatibility concerns.

Q: How long does the media last before I need to replace it?

A: Media typically lasts 18–24 months with regular use. Furthermore, it gradually becomes less effective as cleaning agents break down over time. Replace when cleaning results noticeably decline or cases don’t polish as brightly as before.

Q: How long should I run cases in the tumbler for best results?

A: Most reloaders run cases for 1–2 hours per batch for optimal results. However, heavily tarnished cases may need longer tumbling time to achieve a bright finish. Additionally, faster cleaning can work if your tumbler runs at higher speed settings.
