The Sig Sauer P229 Elite Optic Ready is a compact 9mm pistol with a 3.9″ barrel and a 10-round capacity. It is a DA/SA pistol, so the first shot is a long double-action pull and the shots after it are single action. A manual safety is fitted.
The big change here is the optics-ready slide. You can mount a red dot without sending the slide out for milling. The pistol also comes with SigLite Night sights, so you have a usable sight picture in low light, with or without an optic. The slide wears a Nitron finish, and the frame is alloy steel in a compact size.
Size and who it suits
The pistol measures 7.10″ long, 5.50″ tall and 1.50″ wide. That is a compact footprint for a full-featured duty-style handgun. It suits shooters who like the DA/SA trigger and a manual safety. It also suits anyone who wants to try a red dot on a 9mm without extra gunsmith work. Check that the optic you pick matches the slide’s mounting cut before you order.
Pair it with a holster molded for this model, spare 10-round magazines, and a cleaning kit sized for 9mm. A red dot sight is the obvious add-on. Range ammo in 9mm is useful for practice, and a separate box of defensive loads is worth having if the pistol will be used for home defense. A locking case or safe covers storage.
