The Daniel Defense DD5 V4 Rifle, part number 02-158-22207-067, is a semi-automatic 6.5 Creedmoor rifle with an 18″ barrel on the Daniel Defense DD5 platform, supplied without a magazine.
Daniel Defense keeps a separate no-magazine part number because magazine capacity is restricted in a number of states and localities. The rifle ships on its own and a magazine meeting the local limit is supplied at the delivery end. With no capacity limit to satisfy, the standard 6.5 Creedmoor DD5 V4 is the simpler purchase. DD5 barrels are cold hammer forged from Daniel Defense proprietary steel.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the point of a rifle with no magazine?
A: It is how a 6.5 Creedmoor DD5 V4 reaches a customer in a place where magazine capacity is capped. Daniel Defense builds the SKU without a magazine so the rifle can ship, and a compliant magazine is added by the dealer at the delivery end.
Q: Is this the same rifle as the standard 18″ 6.5 Creedmoor V4?
A: Yes, built the same way on the same platform, in the same chambering and barrel length. Only the magazine is missing from this part number, which is why we point buyers without a capacity restriction at the standard listing instead.
Q: What is 6.5 Creedmoor good for in a semi-automatic?
A: It is generally chosen for longer-range precision shooting, where its ballistic efficiency shows up, while remaining practical in a gas gun. Ammunition costs more and is less widely stocked than 7.62 NATO. Send us a message if you want help deciding between the two.
Q: How long is the barrel, and what about twist rate?
A: The barrel is 18″ on this part number. For twist rate, muzzle thread pitch, gas system and rail, send us a message and we will confirm them against this SKU rather than quote figures that may belong to another DD5 configuration.
Q: Which magazine fits a DD5 V4 in 6.5 Creedmoor?
You will also want to confirm the capacity permitted in your own state and locality, as those rules vary and change.
