Product Description

The BCMGUNFIGHTER Ambidextrous Charging Handle (5.56mm/.223) w/ Mod A44 (Ambi) is a drop-in upgrade for AR-15 upper receivers chambered in .223 Rem and 5.56mm. Bravo Company designed this charging handle to let shooters run the bolt from either side of the receiver with equal speed and control.

An ambidextrous charging handle eliminates the reach and hand position compromises of mil-spec handles. It matters most under optics with low mounts, when wearing gloves, or when running the rifle from unconventional positions.

The Mod A44 configuration gives you latching control on both sides. That symmetry speeds reloads, malfunction drills, and press checks without repositioning your support hand or breaking your sight picture.

Why Upgrade to an Ambi Charging Handle

A standard charging handle forces right-handed shooters to break their firing grip or roll the rifle to reach the latch. Left-handed shooters face even worse ergonomics. An ambidextrous design solves both problems.

The BCM ambi charging handle lets you charge or lock the bolt back using your support hand without changing head position or losing cheek weld. That advantage compounds when you add a low-mounted red dot or a magnified optic that sits close to the receiver.

Shooters running suppressed rifles also benefit. Gas blowback through the charging handle channel is a fact of life with a can, and an ambi handle with extended latches gives you better purchase even when your eyes are watering.

Compatibility and Installation

This charging handle fits any mil-spec AR-15 upper receiver in .223 Rem or 5.56mm. It drops into the same channel as your factory handle and uses the same gas key interface on the bolt carrier group.

Installation takes seconds with no tools. Retract the bolt carrier, pull the old handle out the back of the upper, slide the new one in, and release the carrier. If you are building a complete upper or swapping bolt carrier groups and charging handles together, the process is identical.

Choosing Between BCM Charging Handle Configurations

Bravo Company offers several BCMGUNFIGHTER handle configurations, each with different latch sizes and angles. The Mod A44 gives you full ambidextrous function with latches on both sides of the handle.

Some shooters prefer smaller latches to reduce snag risk. Others want maximum surface area for gloved hands or aggressive racking. The Mod A44 strikes a middle ground suited to general-purpose carbines and duty rifles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the BCM Mod A44 charging handle work with left-handed shooters?

A: Yes, the BCMGUNFIGHTER Mod A44 is fully ambidextrous with latches on both sides of the handle. Left-handed and right-handed shooters get identical access and control, making it ideal for shared rifles or shooters who train both strong-side and support-side.

Q: Will this BCM ambi charging handle fit my AR-15?

A: The Mod A44 fits any mil-spec AR-15 upper receiver chambered in .223 Rem or 5.56mm. It uses the standard charging handle channel and interfaces with mil-spec bolt carrier groups. For non-standard uppers or proprietary systems, send us a message to confirm compatibility.

Q: How does an ambi charging handle compare to a standard mil-spec handle?

A: An ambidextrous charging handle like the BCM Mod A44 gives you latches on both sides, so you can charge the rifle or lock the bolt back from either side of the receiver. Mil-spec handles have a single latch on the left side only, forcing right-handed shooters to reach across or roll the rifle.

Q: Can I install the BCMGUNFIGHTER Mod A44 myself?

A: Yes, charging handle installation requires no tools or gunsmithing. Pull the bolt carrier back, remove the old handle, slide the new one into the channel, and release the carrier. The process takes under a minute on an assembled upper receiver.

Q: What is the difference between BCM charging handle models?

A: Bravo Company manufactures several BCMGUNFIGHTER charging handle variants with different latch sizes, angles, and ambidextrous or single-sided designs. The Mod A44 is a fully ambidextrous model with latches on both sides. Send us a message if you need help choosing between configurations for your intended use.
