Product Description
Barrett MRAD Deployment Kit — Complete Precision System in Two Calibers
The Barrett MRAD Deployment Kit is the most complete out-of-the-box precision rifle system in Barrett’s lineup. It ships as a full precision shooting system — not a rifle that needs a scope, not a kit that needs assembly. You receive the MRAD bolt-action chassis with two complete barrel assemblies (.338 Lapua Magnum and 7.62×51 NATO), a Leupold MK5HD 7-35×56 scope mounted and ready, a 2-port muzzle brake, bipod, 10 magazines, Pelican hard case, and tool kit. Everything needed to go from delivery to first shot is in the box. Finished in Olive Drab Green Cerakote.

The MRAD Platform
The MRAD (Multi-Role Adaptive Design) is Barrett’s modular bolt-action chassis — the platform the US Army selected as the MRAD MK22 PSR (Precision Sniper Rifle). A single lower chassis accepts multiple barrel assemblies in different calibers by loosening two Torx bolts. No press, no gunsmith, no headspace check required — the barrel-to-receiver interface self-headspaces on assembly. The Deployment Kit delivers this capability with two of the most operationally relevant calibers in precision shooting.
.338 Lapua Magnum — The Long-Range Caliber
The .338 Lapua Magnum barrel is the long-range working end of this system. Driving 250–300 grain projectiles at approximately 2,900–3,000 fps from the 26-inch barrel, it produces a ballistic profile capable of first-round hits at 1,500 yards with a trained shooter and appropriate atmospheric data. Supersonic beyond 1,400 yards with quality ammunition, sub-MOA accuracy from this barrel, and deep commercial ammunition support from Hornady, Lapua, Federal, Barnes, and Berger.
7.62×51 NATO — Training, Economy, and Versatility
The 7.62×51 NATO barrel is the practical companion. At $1.50–$3.00 per round vs. $5–$10+ for premium .338, the 7.62 barrel is the correct choice for high-volume practice and fundamentals work at distances where the .338’s additional power is not required. Same manual of arms, same optic, same chassis — the only change is the barrel and magazine. Training in 7.62 and transitioning to .338 for distance work requires no relearning.
The Leupold MK5HD 7-35×56
The included Leupold MK5HD 7-35×56 is not a bundled-in value optic — it is one of the most capable production precision scopes available (~$3,500 standalone). The 35mm main tube provides more internal adjustment travel for extreme long-range holds. The scope arrives mounted on the rifle. We strongly recommend having our gunsmith verify mounting torque and level the reticle before your first range session — available at no additional charge on a rifle purchased from us.

Frequently Asked Questions
What barrels are included?
Two barrel assemblies: a 26" fluted .338 Lapua Magnum barrel and a 26" fluted 7.62×51 NATO (.308 Winchester) barrel. Both are interchangeable using two Torx bolts — no gunsmithing required.
Does the scope arrive pre-mounted?
Yes. The Leupold MK5HD 7-35×56 arrives mounted on the rifle. We recommend having our gunsmith verify mounting torque and reticle level before your first range session — we offer this service at no charge on rifles purchased from us.
How long does a barrel swap take?
Two Torx bolts. With the included tool, approximately 2–5 minutes. No gunsmithing, no headspace gauge, no press — the MRAD barrel interface self-headspaces on assembly.
Does the scope maintain zero between barrel swaps?
The scope stays mounted during barrel swaps. Expect a slight point-of-impact shift between calibers requiring a zero confirmation at the range — the two calibers have different ballistic profiles. A quick range confirmation after each barrel swap is standard practice.
Can I add more calibers?
Yes. The MRAD platform accepts additional Barrett MRAD barrel assemblies including .300 Winchester Magnum, .300 Norma Magnum, .338 Norma Magnum, and others. Call us for the current barrel compatibility matrix.
What ammunition should I use?
For .338 Lapua: Hornady Match 285-grain ELD-M, Lapua Scenar 250-grain, or Berger 300-grain OTM are all excellent. For 7.62: Hornady Match 168-grain ELD-M or Federal Gold Medal 175-grain Sierra MatchKing. We stock precision ammunition — call ahead to confirm current inventory at (817) 393-4000.
