Christensen Arms MPR, Bolt Action Rifle, 308 Winchester, 16″ Carbon Fiber Barrel, Cerakote Finish, Black

Product Description

The Christensen Arms MPR .308 Win 16″ is a sub-7-pound precision chassis rifle engineered for suppressor use, vehicle transport, and tactical applications without sacrificing accuracy. Built on an aerospace-grade aluminum chassis with a carbon fiber-wrapped stainless barrel, this compact configuration delivers full MPR precision in a package light enough for one-handed carry and short enough for tight vehicle storage. Whether you’re running a suppressor, competing in precision matches, or building a versatile duty rifle, the MPR 16″ combines weight savings, rigidity, and fold-ability into a platform that outperforms heavier steel-barrel competitors.

About Christensen Arms

Since 1995, Christensen Arms has been manufacturing precision rifles in Gunnison, Utah, pioneering carbon fiber-wrapped barrel technology that revolutionized the lightweight rifle category. Their signature innovation—a stainless steel barrel core wrapped in aerospace-grade carbon fiber—reduces weight by up to 40% compared to solid steel barrels while maintaining superior rigidity and thermal stability. This engineering approach, combined with billet aluminum chassis construction and match-grade components, has made Christensen a trusted name among precision shooters, competition riflemen, and tactical users who demand performance without compromise.

The MPR Platform

The MPR (Modern Precision Rifle) is Christensen Arms’ answer to shooters who need precision performance in a tactical package. The folding aluminum chassis collapses the profile for vehicle storage, bag carry, or backpack transport—critical for law enforcement, military contractors, and serious precision competitors who operate in confined spaces. The Rem 700 footprint ensures aftermarket trigger and optic compatibility, while AICS magazine compatibility gives you access to affordable, proven ammunition feeding systems. At 16 inches, the barrel strikes a balance: long enough to maintain .308 velocity and precision, short enough to pair seamlessly with suppressors that add only 6–8 inches to your overall length.

.308 Winchester remains the gold standard for precision shooting, tactical applications, and long-range hunting. It’s accurate, suppressor-friendly, and ammunition is widely available at competitive prices. The carbon fiber barrel technology ensures that despite the compact 16″ length, you’ll retain ballistic performance and thermal stability—the barrel won’t shift zero from heat cycling like thinner steel barrels. Whether you’re a competition shooter, suppressor enthusiast, or building a versatile duty rifle, the MPR 16″ delivers sub-MOA accuracy in a package that weighs less than most AR-pattern rifles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why .308 Winchester for a 16-inch barrel?

A: .308 Winchester is the precision rifle standard—proven accuracy, excellent suppressor performance, and widely available ammunition. At 16 inches, you maintain velocity and ballistic performance while keeping the rifle compact enough for vehicles, backpacks, and suppressor pairing. It’s not a short-range cartridge; it’s a full-duty precision round in a carbine platform.

Q: How much weight does carbon fiber wrapping save?

A: Christensen Arms’ carbon fiber-wrapped barrels reduce weight by approximately 40% compared to solid steel barrels of the same length and profile. The MPR 16″ weighs just 6.2 lbs—lighter than nearly all AR-10 and traditional bolt-action alternatives—while maintaining superior rigidity and thermal stability for precision shooting.

Q: Is the MPR 16″ a good suppressor host?

A: Yes. The 16″ barrel is threaded for suppressors, and at that length, a suppressor adds only 6–8 inches to overall length, making the rifle manageable in tight spaces. The carbon fiber barrel resists heat-induced zero shift, and .308 suppresses cleanly. This is one of the primary design goals of the MPR 16″ configuration.

Q: Why choose the MPR over Christensen’s Ridgeline Scout?

A: The MPR features a folding aluminum chassis designed for tactical/precision use and competition, while the Ridgeline Scout is a hunting-focused bolt-action with a fixed carbon fiber stock. Choose the MPR for suppressor hosts, duty rifles, and tactical applications; choose the Scout for lightweight hunting where a traditional rifle feel is preferred.
