Howa USA Lightning Short 2 7mm-08 Rem Bolt-Action Rifle, 16.25″ Barrel

Product Description

The Howa USA Lightning Short 2 is a bolt-action rifle chambered in 7mm-08 Rem, built around a 16.25″ Lite Profile barrel. The short barrel and a 38.75″ overall length make it a compact rifle that is easy to carry and easy to move in tight spaces like a blind or a truck cab.

The barrel has a 1:10″ twist and a threaded muzzle with 1/2×28 threads. That makes the rifle suppressor ready, so you can mount a can or a muzzle device that uses the same thread. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounting, and the rifle has no sights. Plan on adding an optic.

Stock, trigger and magazine

The rifle sits in an HS Precision stock with a 13.37″ length of pull. It uses the HACT trigger and a 3 position safety. The magazine is a hinged floorplate type and holds 4+1 rounds, so you unload through the bottom of the magazine rather than feeding rounds out one at a time.

This rifle suits hunters who want a short 7mm-08 Rem for deer-sized game, and shooters who like a lighter rifle with a threaded barrel. Good gear to pair with it includes a scope with matching bases and rings, a suppressor that fits the 1/2×28 thread, a sling, and a box of 7mm-08 Rem ammunition for sighting in.
