Choosing functional range gear

A quality range belt is the foundation of a competitive or training setup. You need a stable platform that does not compress under holster draw and carries magazines without shifting. Blade-Tech, High Speed Gear, and similar manufacturers build belts worth buying. Cheap canvas belts work for casual use but fail under the stresses of serious training.

Plate carriers and chest rigs serve different purposes: plate carriers hold armor plates and carrier-mounted accessories for protective use; chest rigs carry magazines and accessories for training and competition without the weight of armor. For most recreational shooters, a chest rig for competition use is the more practical choice.

Gloves for shooting should not compromise trigger feel. Mechanix Wear M-Pact or FastFit are what we see most on the range — protective enough to matter, thin enough not to interfere with the trigger. Test any glove on the trigger before buying.

This is the small apparel and carry-gear rack at Western Sport: Daniel Defense Old Glory T-shirts and trucker hats, the Haley Strategic Flatpack Plus in black, coyote tan, MultiCam and ranger green, Magpul DAKA Essential wallets, and the Western Sport T-shirt. Nothing here needs an FFL, so it ships straight to your door.

What is on the rack

The Haley Strategic Flatpack Plus is a low-profile pack that rides flat on your back and opens up when you load it for a range day. The Magpul DAKA Essential wallet is the welded polymer-fabric wallet from the DAKA line, slim enough for a front pocket and easy to rinse off. The Daniel Defense shirts and hats are factory DD merchandise; most of them show as backorder, which means you can order now and they ship when they arrive.

Looking for gear rather than clothing?

Holsters, slings and sling mounts are under weapon accessories, and rifle and pistol cases are under hard gun cases and soft gun cases.

Apparel FAQs

Does apparel or a pack need an FFL transfer?

No. Shirts, hats, packs and wallets are not firearms, so they ship directly to the address you give at checkout.

What colors does the Flatpack Plus come in?

We list it in black, coyote tan, MultiCam and ranger green. Each color has its own product page with its own stock line.

Can I order a Daniel Defense shirt or hat that shows backorder?

Yes. A backorder listing can be purchased and ships as soon as it reaches us.
