Product Description
The Daniel Defense DDM4 PDW Black is a purpose-built personal defense weapon chambered in .300 AAC Blackout. This compact pistol delivers serious stopping power in a maneuverable package. It features a 7-inch cold hammer forged barrel optimized for subsonic and supersonic .300 Blackout performance.
Furthermore, every Daniel Defense firearm is hand assembled, quality assured, and test fired before shipment. The DDM4 PDW Black arrives factory-equipped with an SB Tactical SBA3 adjustable pistol stabilizing brace. This brace provides a stable shooting platform for rapid target acquisition and follow-up shots.
Additionally, the Daniel Defense MFR XL 6.0 free-float M-LOK handguard keeps the overall profile compact and lightweight. The M-LOK slots accept lights, foregrips, and tactical accessories without bulk. A pistol-length gas system ensures reliable cycling in this short-barrel configuration.

This pistol ships from the factory with an SB Tactical pistol stabilizing brace attached to a pistol-length receiver extension, configured as a firearm — not a rifle. A 2024 federal court ruling vacated ATF’s 2023 rule that reclassified braced pistols as Short-Barreled Rifles (SBRs), and the government dropped its appeal of that ruling in 2025. As a result, a stabilizing brace alone no longer causes a pistol to be treated as an SBR under the National Firearms Act (NFA). As of 2026, ATF has proposed formally removing the old ‘redesigned to be fired from the shoulder’ factoring criteria, with public comments open through August 4, 2026. As configured and shipped, this pistol requires no NFA registration or tax stamp — only the standard ATF Form 4473 background check at transfer. Permanently configuring this firearm with a shoulder stock, however, would create an SBR requiring an approved ATF Form 1 before modification. Western Sport cannot advise on individual compliance — buyers are responsible for following all applicable federal and state law.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What ammunition should I use in the Daniel Defense DDM4 PDW Black?
A: The 7-inch barrel is optimized for .300 AAC Blackout in both subsonic and supersonic loads. Subsonic ammunition (around 900 fps) pairs well with suppressors for hearing-safe shooting. Supersonic loads (1,400+ fps) deliver excellent terminal ballistics and range.
Q: What optics and accessories are compatible with the M-LOK handguard?
A: The Daniel Defense MFR XL 6.0 M-LOK rail accepts any standard M-LOK accessory: tactical lights, foregrips, slings, and rail sections. For optics, the upper receiver’s Picatinny rail supports any 1913 red dot, magnified scope, or mount. Popular choices include Aimpoint, Holosun, and Trijicon platforms.
Q: Does the SB Tactical SBA3 brace affect accuracy or handling compared to a standard pistol grip?
A: The SBA3 brace significantly improves stability and shot control during rapid fire and precise shooting. It braces against your arm for consistent point-of-aim, reducing recoil and improving target transitions. The adjustable design accommodates different arm sizes and shooting positions.
Q: What’s included in the box, and does the DDM4 PDW Black ship fully assembled?
A: Yes, the pistol ships fully assembled, test fired, and ready to shoot from Western Sport. The package includes the DDM4 PDW Black, SB Tactical SBA3 brace, and Daniel Defense documentation. You’ll need to source ammunition, a light, and an optic separately to complete your setup.
Q: What is the M-LOK handguard on this pistol?
A: Daniel Defense’s free-float M-LOK handguard lets you attach lights, lasers, and grips directly to the rail using the M-LOK slot system — no separate rail sections required. Additionally, the handguard floats independently of the barrel, so attachments don’t shift your zero. A continuous top rail provides a stable mounting surface for optics.
Q: Will I need to file ATF paperwork or pay a tax stamp for this pistol’s brace?
A: No. As configured and shipped, this is a pistol with a stabilizing brace — not a Short-Barreled Rifle (SBR). ATF’s 2023 rule treating braced pistols as SBRs was vacated by federal courts in 2024, and the government dropped its appeal in 2025. Only the standard ATF Form 4473 background check applies at transfer, the same as for any other pistol.
