Product Description
The Daniel Defense Offset Flashlight Mount Insert, 0.915 in is a 0.1 oz sleeve that lets the Daniel Defense Offset Flashlight Mount accept 0.915 in. diameter flashlights without buying a new mount – the larger of the two insert sizes we list.
Lights get replaced far more often than mounts do, and body diameters are not standardised between models. That is why this part exists: rather than replacing a good offset mount because a new light is a different thickness, you fit the insert that matches the light. It slides over the flashlight body and the mount installs as normal.
Because we list this in 0.915 in. and also in 0.835 in., the only thing to get right is which body diameter you have. A 0.080 in. difference is hard to judge by eye and impossible to fudge in a clamp: too large an insert will not take the light, too small a one leaves the mount gripping a sleeve rather than the light.

0.915 in. or 0.835 in.?
Measure the flashlight’s barrel where the mount clamps – not the bezel, and not the tailcap, which usually steps out wider. If the caliper says 0.915 in., this is your insert; if 0.835 in., order that one. Anything else, call 817-393-4000 rather than forcing a clamp. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is 0.915 in. the right insert for my flashlight?
A: Only if the light body measures 0.915 in. at the point the mount clamps. Take a caliper reading before ordering. We also list a 0.835 in. insert, and those two dimensions are the only thing separating the two part numbers, so the measurement decides the purchase.
Q: Can I use this insert without the Offset Flashlight Mount?
A: No. This is an insert made so that the Daniel Defense Offset Flashlight Mount can attach 0.915 in. diameter flashlights without having to buy a new mount. On its own it has nothing to clamp into. If you do not have the Offset Flashlight Mount, call 817-393-4000 first.
Q: I ordered the 0.835 in. insert and my light will not sit in it. What happened?
A: Your light is almost certainly the larger 0.915 in. body, which will not enter an insert bored for 0.835 in. That is the usual mix-up between these two part numbers. Measure the body, order the matching insert, and keep the spare – lights get changed more often than mounts do.
Q: Does using an insert weaken the clamp on the light?
A: Used with the matching diameter it should not: the insert is there to make up the difference between a slimmer light body and the mount’s clamping bore, so the mount closes on a full-diameter surface. What does weaken a clamp is using the wrong insert and leaving a gap.
Q: How much does it add to the rifle?
A: 0.1 oz, which is inside the margin of error on most builds. Weight and bulk in a light set-up come from the light and the mount body; the insert is a thin sleeve. It also does not change how the mount attaches to the handguard.
Q: What material is the insert?
A: We will not state a material for this part number because we cannot verify one for it, and a specification we cannot stand behind is worth nothing to you. The facts we will state are the 0.915 in. Call 817-393-4000 for more.
