Product Description

The Atrius Forced Reset Selector (Atrius FRS, often called the Atrius “Super Selektor” or Atrius super safety) is a drop-in AR-15 safety selector with three positions: Safe, Semi and Super-Semi. In the third position it forces your existing trigger to reset after every shot, so you get forced-reset speed without replacing your trigger group. This is the single-sided model with Atrius’s ergonomic switch, the first forced reset selector Atrius released, in May 2025. It ships to your door with no FFL.

  • What it is: a 3-position forced reset selector (“super safety”) for the AR-15: Safe / Semi / Super-Semi.
  • What it fits: mil-spec AR-15 lowers in .223/5.56 and .300 Blackout with a low-shelf or full-profile trigger pocket.
  • What your rifle needs: a full-profile (M16) bolt carrier, an H2 or H3 buffer, a carbine-length buffer tube and a mil-spec trigger with a squared-off trigger bar.
  • Build: heat-treated 4140 steel, corrosion-resistant black nitride finish, made in the USA. Single-sided lever.
  • Rounds per pull: one, in every firing position. Not a binary trigger and not a machine gun.
  • Ordering: a part, not a firearm. No FFL, ships to your door in states we can ship to.

How the Atrius forced reset selector works

In Safe and Semi, the Atrius FRS works like a standard AR-15 selector. Rotate it to Super-Semi and a cam on the selector shaft engages: as the bolt carrier pushes the hammer back, that movement is transferred through the selector to push your trigger forward to its reset point. Keep steady pressure on the trigger and it is ready for the next shot almost immediately. You still pull the trigger once for every round.

Compatibility checklist

Lower receiver Low-shelf or full-profile trigger pocket. Not compatible with high-shelf lowers.
Bolt carrier group Full-profile (M16) BCG required
Buffer H2 or H3
Buffer tube Carbine length. Pistol-length tubes are not compatible.
Trigger Mil-spec trigger with a squared-off trigger bar. Not compatible with triggers that have a U-notch or relief cut. Geissele SSA/SSA-E/G2S owners need the G-Lever model.
Calibers .223 / 5.56 NATO and .300 Blackout AR-15s
Not for AR-10 / SR-25 without significant gunsmithing; AR-9 may need a gunsmith; rifles already modified to “super safety” specs
Lever screw T10, 4-40 thread; Atrius recommends 15 in-lb with blue thread locker

Need a carrier? We stock M16-profile bolt carrier groups from Rankin Industries, Daniel Defense and Faxon, plus buffers and buffer tube kits.

Installation in brief

  1. Unload the rifle and confirm the chamber is empty.
  2. Remove the pistol grip, selector spring and detent, then the original selector.
  3. Insert the Atrius detent shaft from the right side about halfway, fit the spring and cam lever, then push the shaft through.
  4. Reinstall the detent, spring and grip, and fit the lever with the T10 screw.
  5. Run Atrius’s binding test with the upper off and a full function check before live fire.

The buffer tube stays on. Full steps, the binding test and troubleshooting are in our Atrius forced reset selector guide.

Atrius forced reset selector FAQ

Is the Atrius forced reset selector the same as the Super Selektor?

Yes. Atrius Development Group sells it as the Forced Reset Selector (FRS) or Forced Reset Safety; many shooters and retailers call it the Atrius Super Selektor, Super Selector or Atrius super safety.

Is the Atrius forced reset selector legal?

It fires one round per function of the trigger. There is no federal statute or ATF rule written specifically for forced reset selectors, and after the May 2025 DOJ settlement with Rare Breed Triggers, forced reset devices that fire one round per pull are not being treated as machine guns. Several states restrict them, and we do not ship to CA, CO, CT, DE, DC, FL, HI, IL, IA, MD, MA, MN, NV, NJ, NY, OR, RI, VA or WA. This is not legal advice.

What buffer do I need for the Atrius FRS?

An H2 or H3 buffer. Atrius lists it as a minimum and says most light primer strikes come from a buffer that is too light; move up one weight if you see light strikes or bolt bounce.

Will my trigger work with the Atrius forced reset selector?

It will if it is a mil-spec style trigger with a squared-off trigger bar at the rear. Triggers with a U-notch or relief cut are not compatible. For Geissele SSA, SSA-E or G2S triggers, use the Atrius G-Lever model instead.

Why is my trigger dead in the third position?

Atrius points to two causes: a bolt carrier that is not full-profile, or a trigger bar with a relief cut or U-notch. Confirm an M16-profile carrier and a squared-off trigger bar.

Do I need to remove the buffer tube to install it?

No. You remove the pistol grip and the old selector; the buffer tube stays in place.
